SUMMARY MINUTES
APRIL 5, 2011
FOUNTAIN CONFERENCE ROOM
7:00 P.M. – REGULAR MEETING
Acting Chair Kathleen Thomas called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m.
MEMBERS PRESENT:
Kathleen Thomas, Mark Undestad, Tom Doll, Kim Tennyson, and
Lisa Hokkanen.
MEMBERS ABSENT:
Kevin Ellsworth and Andrew Aller.
STAFF PRESENT:
Kate Aanenson, Community Development Director; Bob Generous, Senior
Planner; and Angie Kairies, Planner I.
PUBLIC PRESENT:
None
OATHS OF OFFICE:
Kathleen Thomas, Mark Undestad, Kim Tennyson, and Lisa Hokkanen took the Oath of Office.
The Planning Commissioners and staff introduced themselves to each other.
ADOPTION OF PLANNING COMMISSION BYLAWS
Tom Doll moved and Mark Undestad seconded a motion to approve the Bylaws. Motion
approved 5 – 0.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Undestad noted the verbatim and summary
minutes of the Planning Commission meetings dated January 4, 2011, February 1, 2011
and February 15, 2011 as presented.
STAFF PRESENTATIONS
: Kate Aanenson presented the City Council updates and upcoming
items:
Two new parks will be incorporated into the city: Pioneer Pass and Riley Ridge
TH 41 Trail and Underpass Wetland Alteration Permit
BP Site Plan Review and Conditional Use Permit
TH 101 Improvements will be on an upcoming agenda
The Regular Meeting was adjourned at 7:16 p.m.

7:16 P.M. – WORK SESSION
PRELIMINARY CENSUS UPDATE
Kate Aanenson presented the Preliminary Census Update information for Chanhassen and
Carver County, the metro area and the State via the Met Council website. She explained that the
2010 regional view showed a slowdown in population growth in the outer ring suburbs while the
Twin Cities metro grew.
POTENTIAL CITY CODE AMENDMENTS
Bob Generous presented possible future City Code Amendments pertaining to Private Streets in
the Subdivision Ordinance; Hard Surface Coverage requirements in Planned Unit Developments
and using land use designation rather than specific districts in the hard surface coverage table;
removing a chapter citation reference to revise the citation; and a change to the reference in the
Communication Tower to reference the Building Code.
Bob Generous presented a request to provide standards for Paint Ball. The Planning
Commission directed staff continue to research other city’s regulations for Paint Ball.
RIVER CROSSING ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT UDPATE/FLOOD
PLAIN AND SURFACE WATER MANAGEMENT
Bob Generous presented the Minnesota River Crossing Environmental Impact Statement Update
and presented information on Flood Plain and Surface Water Management and stated ordinance
amendments will be presented in the future.
CHANHASSEN ROTARY 2011 DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD VOTE
Kate Aanenson discussed the Rotary votes can be emailed to her.
