A Tour Lake Ann Maint./AmbulancSummary Notes
Lake Ann Park Maintenance Facility and Ridgeview Ambulance Bay
7500 Lake Ann Park Drive
In June of 2000, the Highway 5 construction project displaced the park and recreation
department from our existing facility at Lake Ann Park.
Reconstruction of this facility was 5-10 years overdue; however, waiting until the
Highway 5 Project prior to building new was a prudent management decision.
The old shed was sold at auction for $1700 to avoid costs associated with its demolition.
The new building was finished late in the summer of 2001 and houses the following
areas:
6,300 sq foot (72'x88') heated storage garage.
2,100 sq foot (30'x72') heated workshop
1,120 sq foot (20'x56') ambulance facility
The general contractor for the project was Westra Construction from Chaska.
Contract amount:
$763,000
Cost break out:
Mobilization
Sanitary sewer and water
Driveways and asphalt storage yard
Street reconstruction
Building construction
Landscape and restoration
$35,000
$35,000
$59,000
$34,000
$555,000
$45,000
The completion of the new building allowed for the transfer of nearly all park
maintenance equipment from the city shop to the Lake Ann Facility. The resulting
breathing room at the main shop allows for more effective operations in our street,
utilities, and fleet management divisions.
The opening of the new ambulance facility has improved response times dramatically.
The old ambulance bay was located at the west fire station at Highway 7 and
Minnewashta Parkway. This change in location has resulted in marked improvement in
the effectiveness of this component of our first responder network.
