Multi-Band Benefit Concert - July 4th, 2003, and "Target Market"
Concert Proposal
The Park and Recreation Commission have previously discussed whether the city
should sponsor some sort of event after the parade on the 4tn of July.
Traditionally, the large street dance tent from the night before is still up on
July 4, and Joe Scott has an idea to better utilize the vacant tent. Mr. Scott, a
Chanhassen resident and business owner, will attend Tuesday night's meeting to
propose having a multi-band benefit concert under the tent after the parade. The
concert would feature several bands that would play until around 9:00 p.m. The
Carver/Scott Food Shelf would be the beneficiary of the concert proceeds. People
coming to the concert would be asked to bring a non-perishable food item that
would be donated to the food shelf.
Mr. Scott would also like to discuss the idea of a "Target Market" Concert at a
location to be determined in Chanhassen. The "Target Market" title was
developed from the tobacco settlement money. This money is distributed to
groups around the state to inform kids about the dangers of tobacco use. Dan
Scott (Joe's son) is the contact; however he will out of town that evening, so Joe
will make the presentation to the commission.
Mr. Scott will answer any questions the commission may have in regards to both
concert concepts.
