leading to increase band participation and spectator attendance in the future.
Engineering
Phone: 952.227.1160 The location was moved from the Chanhassen Rec Center to the new Chanhassen
Fax: 952.227.1170 High School Auditorium. This change was well received. The theater allowed
bands to play in an acoustic - friendly environment. Additionally, the light show
Finance was spectacular, allowing students to play a show with impressive lighting

Senior Center A group of workers from Chanhassen High School provided the sound, lighting
Phone: 952.2271125 and equipment for the show. Overall they helped create a professional quality
Fax: 952.227.1110 show for the musicians; however a few small technical difficulties did occur. In
the future, it would be great to contract with Dan Scott and Partners in
Web Site Entertainment to run the sound if the theater would allow it.

Overall, the event is a wonderful way to reach out to our teenage residents, which
is a goal of our department. In addition, this has proven to be an event that is fun
for the whole family. It is highly recommended that this program be continued in
future years.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 2012
• Continue to hold the event the Friday before Thanksgiving.
• Evaluate the selection process to possibly include bands from Eden Prairie
and Waconia High Schools. Additionally, consider the possibility of allowing
8 grade bands to participate. If this is done, bands from local high schools
should receive priority in -the selection process.
• Ensure the sound provider uses enough monitors so the vocalists /musicians
are able to hear each other. Three monitors at the front of the stage and one in
front of the drummer would be ideal.
• Holding the event at Chanhassen High School Theater was fantastic.
Continue to use this location for the event. In efforts to keep the location fair,
staff could consider rotating the location between Chanhassen, Chaska and
Minnetonka High School Theaters.
• While word of mouth continues to be the best form of marketing, continue to
look for new ways to reach out to families to advertise this event.
• Continue to work with McNally Smith College of Music, MacPhail Center for
Music, Paul Green's School of Rock, Shell Lake Arts Center and Blizzard Ski
and Snowboard School as contributing sponsors of the event.
• Continue to invite the Chanhassen Key Club to help with ticket sales and
general event management.
• It is recommended that 10 bands be the capacity for the event.
