2002 Halloween Party Evaluation
The annual Halloween Party, held on October 26, 2002 at the Chanhassen
Recreation Center, was a great success. Over 500 children and parents enjoyed an
evening of entertainment, games, refreshments, trick-or-treating, and hayrides.
The following are general comments I have regarding the components of this
event.

· Two hayracks worked well within the time frame of the event. Lines for a
ride were no longer than 5 minutes in length.
· Continue using the doors at the north end of the Recreation Center to exit
people for the hayrides.

The Touch of Magic "Oscar and Half Pint" show was a big hit.
Moving the entertainment away from the bleachers worked well. This
allowed for more seating and provided better overall acoustics.
Face Painting
· Having the face painters in the back comer of the school gym provided for
overall better traffic and line control.
· Three face painters seemed to work well. Lines were never out of control.
Refreshments
· Continue using rooms 3 & 4 for refreshments.
· Continue having ample volunteers to keep this room clean and moving
smoothly.
· To make these rooms more festive we could play some Halloween music
in the background.
· Provide plastic gloves for people working with the cookies.
The City of Chanhassen ,,, A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live. work. and play.
Games
· The use of the school gym for the games worked well. It helps keep the
traffic flowing.
· Having an ample number of volunteers is crucial to running the games
smoothly.
Volunteers/CRC Staff
· The use of Chaska High School Key Club, Park & Recreation
Commissioners, and other local volunteers were key to the success of this
event.
· Coordinating event registration, setup and clean up with the Recreation
Center staff is key to running a successful event.
General Comments
· The lobby set-up for walk-in registrations worked well and assisted in
alleviating any initial congestion at the event.
· Continue using the school gym for games.
· Moving the candy guess and the adult raffle into the gym helped with
general traffic flow in the lobby area.
· Reserve the conference room until Monday morning. This will give us a
place to store supplies over the weekend.
· Pizzas seemed to be a big hit this year with the volunteers. Next year we
will need to order about 15 pizzas.
· Continue to have costumed candy distributors on one side of the hall. This
helped with the overall traffic flow.
· Having the 'scary room" in rooms 1 and 2 allowed participants to enter
this activity immediately upon arrival to the Recreation Center.
