RE: The Preserve at Bluff Creek 1 Addition Native Prairie Restoration
Dear Ms. Sinclair,
In response to your letter dated October 31, 2011 regarding request for release of
landscaping letter of credit for The Preserve at Bluff Creek 1 and 2 Additions —
Planning Case 06 -14, Ryland is submitting this proposal for satisfying the
corrective action noted for the improper native prairie seeding in Outlot A. As
shown on the enclosed site plan, Ryland shall only be responsible for correcting
the area within Outlot A which lies behind those lots in The Preserve at Bluff
Creek 1 Addition.
The restoration process Ryland is proposing is described in the enclosed letter
from Applied Ecological Services, with whom Ryland intends to contract with to
perform the work, dated February 10, 2012. Also, pursuant to our conversation,
Ryland will vary from the seed mixture detailed on the approved landscape plan
in specific areas as described in the enclosed letter and shown on the enclosed site
plan.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at (952) 229 -6046.
Sincerely,
Drew Hageman

RE: The Preserve Native Seeding
As follow up to the meeting with the City of Chanhassen on Monday February 6, 2012, below is a brief
summary of changes to our existing proposal along with a tentative schedule of work. I have also
attached a map for reference.
After discussing the native seeding of BWSR U5 at The Preserve, it was decided to seed a more
aggressive mix along the western boundary where the seeding limits meet the existing wetland. This
wetland is mostly dominated by reed canary grass and an aggressive native mix may help keep the reed
canary grass from encroaching the native seeding up slope. BWSR U11 will be seeded in the bottom 8 -10
feet of the slope to address this issue. It was also discussed to make sure a number of wildflowers are
seeded along the backs of the lots for aesthetics. This will not require a different native seed mix, but
will be in the methodology used for installing seed. Native grasses and forbs (wildflowers) will already be
seeded separately. AES will ensure that a higher rate of native forbs is seeded along the backs of the lots
during the installation.
