Box 147 Chanhassen, MN 55345 Dear Todd Hoffman: RE: 2012 Local Trail Connections Program City of Chanhassen — Rice Marsh Lake Trail Extension Thank you for submitting an application for funding to the 2012 Local Trail Connections Program. We received 44 applications for parks and trails projects with requests totaling over $4 million with only about $1 million to allocate. It was challenging to select amongst all of the great park and trail projects, including yours, unfortunately your project was not selected for funding this year. If you applied for funding through more than one program, you will receive notification from each program. Information on future grant funding opportunities from the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is found on the recreation grants webpage at http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/grants/recreation/index.html. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andrew Korsberg, Trail Program Coordinator (651- 259 -5642) or me. Thank you for your continuing interest in parks and trails, and good luck in your future endeavors. The planned 2013 trail improvement to Minnesota River Bluffs Regional Trail is made possible through a grant application which was submitted in 2009. Federal funds have been allocated for the work. The project scope did not include a bridge over TH 101 and cannot be added to this project. The section of TH 101 which you are requesting a bridge is problematic. This section of roadway needs to be reconstructed to better serve the traffic demand. Unfortunately, a road improvement for the section of TH 101 south of Pioneer Trail to County Road 61 is not scheduled in a capital improvement program at this time. The agencies involved with the roadway and trail do not have sufficient information needed to design a bridge over a future improvement of TH101. A new bridge over TH 101 is not likely to be constructed until an improvement to TH 101 is made in the area of the proposed bridge.
