I In conjunction with the City of Chanhassen's annual certification of road mileage to the
Minnesota Department of Transportation State -Aid Office, it has been determined that the
City has approximately 1.9 miles of available State -Aid road designation. This is important
I to note since a major factor in determining the needs and ultimately the annual State -Aid
apportionment to the City of Chanhassen is based on the total mileage of Municipal State -
Aid road designations. Thus, having the 1.9 miles of unclaimed designation is simply
1 available money lost by not merely requesting full needs.
The following are the recommended additions to the Municipal State Aid road system in
1 Chanhassen:
1. Minnewashta Parkway from Trunk Highway 5 north 1300 feet - This roadway was
1 previously within the corporate limits of the City of Victoria. During 1992 the City
of Chanhassen completed an orderly annexation of this road right -of -way from the
City of Victoria. The remaining portion of Minnewashta Parkway from this segment
I north to Highway 7 is currently on the MSA system. The addition of this segment
to the system will provide complete continuity of this roadway and allow State -Aid
construction funding. Approximate length - .1300 feet equal to 0.24 miles.

2. Dell Road from Lake Drive East south to corporate limits - The common corporate
I limits for Chanhassen and Eden Prairie exist along the centerline of this roadway
segment. Eden Prairie has designated their side of the roadway on their MSA
system. Chanhassen currently has designated the segment of Dell Road from Trunk
I Highway 5 south to Lake Drive East on the Municipal State -Aid System. Therefore,
to provide continuity, it is appropriate for Chanhassen to designate its half of the
roadway segment. Approximate length - 1/2 of 650 feet equal to 0.06 miles.

3. East /west connector between County Road 17 (Powers Boulevard) and County Road
1 117 (Galpin Boulevard) - Located immediately north of Trunk Highway 5 to serve
as the future Arboretum north boulevard access frontage road. Approximate length -
' 8400 feet equals 1.6 miles.
"Total new designations = 1.9 miles.
All requests for additional mileage or revisions to the Municipal State -Aid system to be
considered in the 1993 Needs Study and Apportionment must be submitted to the District
' State -Aid Engineer by March 1, 1993. MnDOT will review the requests and approve or
deny any of the changes. It is therefore recommended that the City Council approve these
additions to the MSA system.
