Park & Recreation PROGRAM INFORMATION Phone: 952.2271120 Fax: 952.2271110 Dance for Fun: The Dance for Fun year -end recital was May 11, 2013 at Recreation Center Chanhassen High School. Approximately 200 dancers participated and over 730 2310 Coulter Boulevard tickets were sold for the 3 performances. Forty -four (44) dancers auditioned June 13 -14 and are in the process of being placed on competition teams for the 2013 -2014 Planning & dance season. Currently, Fax: 952.2271110 we have 68 soccer players. Our first session of T -Ball had 51 children participate. Web Site www.ci.chanhassen.mn.us • Lil' Star Sports (ages 4 -6): It's been a difficult spring for our Lil' Stars with the wet weather. The T -Ball program is underway with 94 children participating in the first session and a second session begins in July. • After School Sports (ages 7 -10): 26 Youth participated in our after school activities. We held sessions of soccer, flag football, and tennis. Due to the growing popularity of lacrosse, we will be adding that program in the fall. We are looking for additional suggestions to enhance our after school offerings. LITTLE FREE LIBRARY In cooperation with the Schools of Eastern Carver County, the Chanhassen Recreation Center received a "Little Free Library." This particular library was decorated and used at the "Hooked on Books" event that Carver County and District 112 co- sponsor. The library was installed in June. It is a small structure that looks similar to a birdhouse. The basic idea is if you need a book, take a book. If you are finished with a book, leave a book. Dave and Jan Lundquist are serving as stewards of the library. UPCOMING REC CENTER EVENTS: Free outdoor Pickleball Clinics continue to be held twice monthly. Upcoming dates are July 9, 9 -10:30 am; July 29, 5:30 -7 pm; August 13, 9- 10:30am; and August 14, 5:30 -7 pm.
