Senior Center Activities Update
The month's of January, February and March have seen a dramatic decrease at times in regular activities and trips.
Coordinating activities and trips for the winter months have been a real challenge. We have battled cold weather, icy
roads, illnesses, etc. and have still maintained a decent participation level for all activities. Presently I am busy
coordinating the summer schedule and working on the Senior Expo Committee. I am eagerly waiting for spring to take
its course and look for positive things to happen. All activities are still running except the Craft group, which plan to
meet again this spring / summer. The Woodcarving and CHAN-o-laires groups will be taking time off this upcoming
spring and will resume again in September. Once again I have kept track of the weekly numbers we have for daily
activities and have averaged them out. Trips and educational activities are also included.

SUB J: Senior Center Program Update
Enclosed is the Chanhassen Senior Center Newsletter for April and May 1996. We have added a
few new programs to the spring schedule that I thought you should be aware of. The first
program is the Blood Pressure & Weight Check Clinic. People are invited to come in on a walk
in basis on the second Monday of each month, from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Presently we have a
retired nurse from the Women's Club running this clinic. Our first clinic was held on Monday,
March 11 th, with 8 people attending. The next scheduled clinic is on Monday, April 8th.
The second new program is the walking and biking program. We currently have bowling and
senior aerobics running for the winter months and have decided to add a few nev~ exercise
activities for the spring and fall. I hope to have these two programs up and running by May
1996. Both of these programs will be utilizing the various park trails in the Chanhassen area.
These groups will meet weekly at a designated trail and will Walk and bike for as long as they
wish.
I continue to search for new and interesting actiVities for the seniors to participate in, as well as
providing important educational and service orientated programs. I look forward io the success
of these programs and for the addition of future programs.
