SUB J:
Director's Report
Resignation: Brad Morse, Parks Equipment Operator-Downtown, has resigned. Brad was hired
one year ago as a second full-time employee to maintain public areas in the downtown. He has
accepted a position with the City of Bemidji Park Department. Advertisements to fill the
vacancy have been placed.
Brad performed his duties admirably and will be missed. Good luck in Bemidji!
Park Task Force: A second "Town Meeting" was held on Thursday, June 13, 1996 at the
Recreation Center. Commissioner Manders and Task Force Co-Chair Allison Blackowiak hosted
a productive meeting. Commissioners Scott, Meger, Howe, and Chairwoman Lash were also in
attendance. A copy of the Chanhassen Villager article covering the meeting is attached. The
Task Force will meet again on June 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center.
City Hall Construction: Construction of the City Hall addition commenced on June 19.
Unfortunately, this will result in the loss of three ballfield areas (Coulter Field Nos. 1 & 2 and
City Center Park Field No. 2). With the loss of these fields, we need to work even harder to
secure additional lands and construct additional ballfield facilities to accommodate the needs of
the community.
Lake Ann Park Access Boulevard: We are hopeful that the city will be able to commence
construction of this extension of West 78th Street in September.
Park Maintenance Priorities:
· Lake Ann Park Playground Installation
