Initiate Galpin Boulevard Neighborhood Park Focus Group
In December of 1995, the city closed a purchase agreement on 4.97 acres of land described as
Outlot A, Forest Meadow Addition. The search for this property was initiated by the commission
in the fall of 1993. At the time, Lundgren Brothers Construction had received approval for two
private parks in a residential area west of Galpin Boulevard. It was the commission's desire to
see "public" parkland developed in this area as well.
Residents living in the vicinity of the park have expressed an interest in seeing the park
developed. At present, your 5 Year CIP identifies a $30,000 investment in 1999 for play
equipment. In order to be responsive to the neighborhood, the commission should initiate some
level of neighborhood planning for this site.
How would the commission like to proceed? A copy of the property survey showing its
relationship to adjoining neighborhood is attached.
