Program Update
We are finishing up Week #6 of summer programs.
Discovery Playground Program will finish up on August 1. The number of children in
attendance generally declines after July 4th as families go on vacation.
Wednesday Wing Dings continue to draw large crowds. On July 9, Alpha Bits will entertain
kids with music from A to Z. On July 16, Cheryl Sawyer will once again be entertaining kids to
story telling and magic. The Wing Dings wrap up the season with the ever popular mini-carnival
at Ci.ty Center Park on July 23.
Super Events continue to see decline in numbers in comparison to previous years. This will be
evaluated at season end to determine availability for the 1998 season.
Lake Ann Adventure Camp once again is extremely popular. To date, we have 25 kids enrolled
for the week long camp. The fee is $70 per child.
Tennis Lessons are contracted through EIS Tennis and is into the second session of lessons. The
first session wrapped up on June 26 and received compliments from many participants.
Miscellaneous Programs offered include Kids in the Kitchen and Summer Sensations (currently
in session). Programs coming up include Fishing for Fun, Babysitting Clinic, and Awesome Art
Adventures.
In addition to the above, I have been busy working on fall programming. The fall newsletter is
scheduled to anSve in Chanhassen homes the week of August 18.

Customer Appreciation
As Session I of tennis lessons winds down and we prepare for Session II, I would like to take a
minute of your time.
I have been pleased with the communication and relationship that is being established between
EIS Tennis (being yourself and instructor Jason Leopold) and Chanhassen Park & Recreation. In
addition, a message was left on my voice mail on June 27, 1997 stating the following:
"My son took tennis lessons at City Center Park and I wanted to thank you for
providing this service.' I am really impressed with the instructor this year as
compared to last year. They just weren't near as good as this one. I suspect that
you did something different. I read something in the paper about the USTA
National Junior League Tennis team and maybe they're the ones putting it on. I
just wanted to thank you and have you pass on to the instructors that they did a
remarkable job. They really seemed to enjoy the kids and had such variety in
teaching them skills. I only regret that we can't sign up for the second session,
but we hope that next year you'll be able to provide the same kind of service.
Thank you."
The person did not leave her name, but please pass this information onto Jason.
I look forward to a successful second session. Thank you.
