Congregate Dining Program
Construction is underway on a new commercial kitchen in the lower level of city hall for a senior
citizen congregate dining program. Funding for the kitchen was obtained through a Community
Development Block Grant. This grant will pay construction costs and purchase the main
appliances (refrigerator, stove, and dishwasher). Other supplies, including dishes, pots and pans,
silverware, etc., have already been delivered. On July 23rd, Twin City Federal Bank in
Chanhassen gep. erously donated $1,000 toward the purchase of supplies.
The CAP agency is in the process of hiring a kitchen coordinator. Many volunteers will also be
needed to serve meals and help with set up on a daily basis.
The congregate dining program is scheduled to begin in September and will eventually be
expanded to include Meals on Wheels.
