5e Senior Activities UpdateCITY OF 690 COULTER DRIVE · P.O. BOX 147 · CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 MEMORANDUM TO: Todd Hoffman, Parks and Recreation Director FROM: Kara Wickenhauser, Senior Center Coordinator DATE: August 20, 1997 SUBJ' Senior Center Activities Update The months of June, July and August have maintained a moderate level of participation. New people in the community continue to call to inquire about the Senior Center and what it has to offer to them. The summer months are usually a very busy time for seniors as they spend time traveling, gardening, and baby-sitting. I have taken advantage of this quiet time to prepare for the winter months ahead. I have all activities and trips scheduled up to February of 1998. I am now going to spend my energies on fine tuning the Intergenerational Activities Calendar and assisting Sharmin-A1 Jaff with any loose ends regarding the Congregate Dining Program. Both Shannin and thyself are invited to a Southwest Metro Transit meeting at Centennial Hills Apartment on Friday, August 29, 1997 at 10:00am, regarding the transportation issues involved with Congregate Dining and to also share information about the current status of the Congregate Dining Program. Besides this I am currently working together with both Chaska and Waconia Community Education Departments in developing a winter trip schedule. In the past we have had some problems with certain trips being offered at the same time, so we have decided to consolidate our trips together to reduce the overlapping numbers of registrations. This will also assure us that we will rarely have to cancel a trip due to registration levels. We will run the winter schedule on a trail basis and decide afterwards if it is working up to our expectations. The only activity groups that have taken the summer off is the Chorus and Bowling groups. These two groups will resume back after Labor Day weekend. Listed below are the average activity participation levels as well as the monthly attendance numbers for June, July and August. I have also attached the September/October calendar for your interest..
