1997/98 Skating Program
Looking ahead to Chanhassen's skating season, the warming houses will be open for 9
weeks from December 13 through February 14. Flooding of the rinks will begin
approximately the first or second week in December, depending on weather and alter
frost is in the ground. The wamfing houses xvill be open Monday through Friday, 4-9
p.m.; Saturday, 10 am-9 p.m.; and Sundays, 1-7 p.m. If the Park and Recreation
Commission would like to discuss adjusting the Monday - Friday hours from 4-9 p.m. to
3:30 - 9 p.m., xve can do so at the September 23 meeting. One challenge I have is getting
rink attendants to the rinks by 4:00 p.m. Many work other jobs or are involved in extra
cmTicular activities at school.
Our department has scheduled the maintenance of the following pleasure and hockey
rinks for the 1997/98 season. If the Park and Recreation Commission would like to add
or delete any sites, we can discuss them at the September 23 meeting.

Advertising and hiring rink attendants will begin soon. Employment ads will appear in
the local newspapers and through the local high schools.
