4c Halloween Party EvalCITY OF 690 COULTER DRIVE · P.O. BOX 147 · CHANHASSEN, MINNESOTA 55317 MEMORANDUM TO: FROM' DATE: Todd Hofl-'man, Park and Recreation Director Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation Supervisor November 19, 1997 SUB J: Halloween Party Evaluation This year's Halloween party was the city's biggest yet. A total of between 900--1000 kids and parents participated. From start to finish the Recreation Center ,,vas filled to capacity. Hayrides · 2 hayracks were ideal. · 7:00 p.m. was the heaviest time for people waiting in line. · Put on flyer next year that the hayridc will be outside on the Recreation Center grounds. Musical Entertainment · Judy Moen, the singing witch was not exciting or energetic. · She seemed to lack experience when performing in front of a large group. · For next year's entertainment we will look to add another musical group with multiple performers. Tompkin the Pumpkin Tompkin the Pumpkin was contracted to roam and mingle with the crowd. The costume character handed out stickers and was visible. However, in my opinion, with the other activities going on, this is not needed. If we wish to have this sort of character, a volunteer with a costume could achieve the same goal. Todd Hoffman November 19, 1997 Page 2 Face Painting Designs were very good. · Face painters were in costume, which was a nice touch. The lines were too long to have up front in the lobby area of the Recreation Center so we will move this activity to the gym. · Face painters are popular and I would book them again. Chanhassen Jaycees Games · Jaycees had enough volunteers and did a good job coordinating the games. · Aerobic room was too congested to host the games and will move them into the gym. · Add more games. Refreshments · Order more cookies and cider next year. · Continue to have volunteers wipe up spills and clean tables. General Comments · Signage or flyer explaining where restrooms and activities are and hand out to everyone at the registration tables. · Have a registration table by Recreation Center/school wood doors. · Open west school entrance allowing participants to enter. · There were 69 walk-in registrations. · Book Bluff Creek gym so players and coaches aren't inconvenienced. · Scary Rooms - more interaction and participation with costumed characters. Registration Flyer - Clarify · Do parents attend or do they drop kids off. · Do parents pay. · Should kids wear costumes. · Age range of participants. · Hay rides will be held outside. g:\park\hallow\97Evaluation PROGRAM NAME: //~?~'7 ,/~/ ct ?;,_," ,A +' ~ ?,; I~; '~'fLi QUARTERS PROGRAM IS OFFERED: SU F W SP Participants in each class Length of class (minutes) Class fee/session Length of class (in weeks) Meetings/Week REVENUE # of participants EXPENSES mo X fee/class X # of classes/yr.
