1999 February Festival
Chanhassen's sixth annual February Festival is less than a month away. My main
focus again this year is the ice fishing contest. The contest will take place from
1-3 p.m. on Lake Ann.
The schedule of event brochures were developed and copied this year in-house.
Karen, Gina, and Norma did a great job in coordinating this big task. Initial
estimates indicate that doing the brochure in-house saved the City close to $3,000
in expenses. Information about the event will be sent to all participating sponsors
this week. Brochures were also mailed to all of last year's participants. In
addition, display ads were placed in the Chanhassen Villager and the Victoria
Gazette in late-December and early-January. Brochures will be inserted into the
Villager on Thursday, January 14 and 28.
The fishing contest has many great prizes again this year. The fishing contest
prize layout will stay the same with prizes given out for the 20 largest fish. This
created a lot of excitement last year when participants who caught fish saw their
names on the leader board. The fish prizes will total $2,000 in value and the door
prizes, featuring a trip to Las Vegas, will be valued at $3,500.
Youth and adult fishing tickets were combined this year into one ticket. The price
of tickets for both youth and adults will be $4.00 each. By combining the tickets
we will eliminate some of the confusion at the ticket outlets and hopefully
increase ticket sales.
