Senior Center Report
My expectation of the Senior Center was that January would be pretty quiet.
However, it appears that trips south have not made a heavy impact on senior
attendance as of today.
Congregate Dining/Meals on Wheels ~ We have been averaging 8 individuals
for congregate dining and 10 deliveries for meals on wheels this month.
Operation is running smoothly with Sherol Howard substituting for Joyce
while she is away.
Senior Newsletter - The winter senior newsletter and calendar are about to be
mailed. This issue includes activities and trips for the months of January,
February, and March.
Special Events - A potluck and card night has been planned for Saturday,
February 5 at the Senior Center. A trip to Owatonna is scheduled for February
23.
Club Activities - The men's and women's clubs are joining together and car
pooling to the new Carver County Historical Museum in Waconia on January
25. This was a spontaneous idea, but the pieces fit together and the museum
director is giving the seniors a "private" tour! I am currently working on
speakers for both clubs for February and March.
Other - I have just finished scheduling four Tax Aide assistance dates for the
Senior Center and have two volunteers returning from last year.
So far I am keeping really busy in the Senior Center. It is obvious that Kara is
able to successfully spin plates and has left me with an organized and ambitious
job for the next few months. I am truly enjoying working with the seniors again
and look forward to the months ahead.
