1999 February Festival Evaluation
Food and Drink Concessions
For the fourth straight year, the Chanhassen Lions served and operated the food
and drink. The Lions had a super day selling out on many items. They were very
pleased. They are definitely interested in doing concessions again. I will work
with the Lions on creating a better flow or layout under the tent which will result
in a shorter food line.
Bonfire
The February Festival participants seemed to enjoy the bonfires and being a small
task, I would recommend it continues.
S'more Cookout/Bait Sale
The Chanhassen Boy Scouts sold s'more kits at the bonfire. They did okay and
would be interested in selling again next year. The main focus of the Boy Scouts
was to sell bait. They had a variety of bait available and were located outside of
the tent along the main entrance. Participants seemed to grasp the concept of the
boy scouts selling bait. They sold out of just about all bait.
Skating Rink
Again, with the warm weather the ice skating rink wasn't in the best shape but
people still wanted to skate. I would recommend continuing the skating rink with
very minimal effort.
Sliding Hill
I'he participation levels for the sliding hill were good again. The sliding hill is
relatively easy to prepare and should be continued. The hay bales around the trees
and toward the bottom of the hill should be continued again next year.

Medallion Hunt
The Friends of the Library coordinated the development of the clues for the hunt and they did a
great job. For a first time event, people seemed to have a good time looking for the medallion.
The Friends of the Library are definitely interested in coordinating the event next year again with
the hope that a tradition can be started.
Ice Fishing Contest
The fishing contest was up from last year's totals with 895 tickets sold. Advance ticket sales
numbered 268, with 627 tickets sold at the event. I can't tell you how excited ! was again this
year that participants caught so many fish! The ice fishing contest ran very smooth and we had a
wonderful day.
