MEMORANDUM
TO:
Todd Hoffman, Park and Recreation Director
FROM:
Dale Gregory, Park Superintendent
DATE: June 14, 1999
SUBJECT: Park and Trail Maintenance Report
Summer is in full swing along with lawn mowing, softball, soccer, and the opening
of the swimming beaches. Much of the work this month has been general park
maintenance getting parks and shelters ready for public use.
As of June 14, all twelve of our seasonal employees are at work. This will give my
full-time employees time to concentrate on specific jobs and repairs that need to be
completed.
We have completed our second application of fertilizer on all high use softball,
baseball, and soccer fields. We currently have over half our parks sprayed for
dandelions, but with all the rainy and windy days, we are having trouble
completing this job.
We were able to use the Sentence to Service (STS) crew to put together all the
new bleachers and to cut down our old bleachers to bring them all into compliance
as three seat bleachers. All bleachers are in place in the parks. STS also assisted
with wood chipping all trees along Kerber Blvd. and we currently have about half
of the trees at Bluff Creek Recreation Center/School completed.
Work on Sugar Bush continues. All rough grading has been completed and the
rock base for the trail is installed. We currently have 38 trees being moved during
this week, after which the trail will be paved, and we will do the final grading,
followed by seeding of the park.
