Senior Center Report
Currently all fall and early winter programming is completed. Registrations for
the summer months have been steady. The Chanhassen Senior Center held its 3''d
Annual Lake Susan Picnic on Friday, August 13th and had a record attendance of
70 seniors. A hamburger / brat luncheon was served by LaMane's Catering from
Shakopee. After the luncheon a saxophone and keyboard duo provided
entertainment. The picnic was a great success! On Wednesday, September 29th
the Chanhassen Senior Center will be meeting with Chaska Community
Education, Waconia Community Education and Westview Acres to plan joint
trips for the months of February - June 2000. Approximately 645 and 395 (as of
8/18/99) visits were recorded for the months of July and August.
Trips - Upcoming trips include; Minnesota State Fair, Mystery Tour, Grotto of
the Redemption, Governor's Mansion Tour, and a overnight casino trip to the
Royal River Casino in S.D.
Special Programs - A 4 hour defensive driving class is being held on Tuesday,
August 24m from 8:30am - 12:30pm in the Senior Center. There are 30 people
registered for this class.
Miscellaneous - A new microwave was installed in the Senior Center kitchenette.
The CHAN-o-laires will be resuming practice on Tuesday, September 21st. The
Bowling group will remain at Chanhassen Bowl until it is closed. The group will
then relocate to a different site. A Flu Shot Clinic is being organized for the
month of October. Last month the Senior Center had 37 people attend the
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres "Good News," and also had 18 people attend a Boat
Cruise and Northwest Fur Company Tour.
