Senior Center Report
Currently I am working on activity and trip planning for the months of September -
December. Activities have been well attended over the past month. One group that bas
seen increased participation is the Golfing Club. There are 25 participants with a
average of 17 people golfing a week. The Woodcarving group has also welcomed 3 to 5
new members. Attached to this report is a copy of the summer senior newsletter. Listed
below are the averages for each daily activity for the month of April. Approximately
787 visits were recorded for the month of May.

Trips - Upcoming trips include; Orchestra Hall 7/27/2000, Austin Trip 8/07/2000 and
Science Museum 8/23/2000.
Special Programs - The Senior Center will be hosting an Open House on Monday, July
yd from 5:00pm - 7:00pm. Information will be handed out along with complimentary
treats and beverages.
Miscellaneous - Kara's work schedule at the Senior Center has changed. Kara will be
available in her office Mondays 8:00am - 12:00 noon, Tuesdays 8:00am ~ 4:00pm and
Wednesdays 8:00am - 4:00pm. Marilyn Luthy has volunteered to staff the office on
Thursdays 9:00am - 1:00pm.
The Senior Commission meeting dates have changed to the third Tuesday of the month
at 10:00am, instead of the regularly scheduled dates of every third Friday at 9:30am.

Upcoming Extended Trips
Bioloxl & New Orleans, Oct. 14-22, 2000: This 9-day trip is organized by
Diamond Tours. The trip includes motorcoach transportation; 8 nights in a
deluxe hotel; 6 dinners; 8 breakfasts; and visits to casinos, New Orleans,
Grant's Farm, Graceland, and a New Orleans Jazz Cruise on Bay St. Louis.
A $75 deposit is due when you sign up. Final payment is due on August 4,
2000. $549/person double occupancy.
Branson Christmas Tour, Nov. 28-Dec. 3, 2000: This 6-day tour is offered
by R & J Tours. Highlights include: 5 breakfasts, 3 other meals, 6 shows
(Dino, The Braschlers, The Osmonds, Shoji Tabuchi, The Rockettes, Mci
& Para Tillis), Branson area tour, Steamboat Arabia Museum, Christmas
lights tour, and time for shopping! Register early as seats are limited! The
cost is $629/person.
Mexican Riviera Cruise, February 18-25, 2001: This 8-day
cruise on the Carnival Elation, one of the largest super-lines ~
in the business, will highlight Mazatlan, Puerto Vallarta,
and Cabo San Lucas; all meals; 6 nights in a large cabin; round trip flights
and home pickup; and tour protection plan. This is a new ship with a spa
and 3 pools. The cost ranges are: $1434 (inside/lower); $1484 (outside/
lower); $1634 (inside/upper); or $1684 (outside/upper). See enclosed flyer.
Switzerland Trip, October 2-10, 2001: This 9-day tour will include:
Lucerne, Lions Monument, Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church, Rhine Falls,
Cuckoo Clock demo, Interlaken, Bern, Zurich, Rapperwil, Brienz wood
carving center, Four country tour, Swiss Folklore Shore, Ferry ride to
Konstanz Germany, and more! $2,000/person. See enclosed flyer.

Stamping Club
Come try a new art! Meet at
the Senior Center to make a
variety of proJects and greeting
cards with a wide selection of
rubber stamps. All supplies are
provided. The cost of the
classes vary with the project. A
Stampin' Up instructor is
scheduled to teach all the
classes. For more information,
call 937-1900 ext. 145.
Registration Policy
All trip payments are due on or
before the registration deadline.
Registration cannot be confirmed
until payment is made. No refimds
are made for cancellation unless
the trip is cancelled by the Senior
Center. If the registrant chooses to
cancel after the registration
deadline, they are responsible to
find a replacement.

Foot Care
Clinic
Happy Feet Footcare,
Inc., provides quality foot care
services. They specialize in care
of the elder and diabetic foot,
but do care for younger feet as
well. They are able to meet any
special needs you may have.
They work on corns, calluses,
thick or curled toenails, and
ingrown nails if they are not well
advanced. Happy Feet's service
is available for $20 per visit. The
fee will be collected at the time
of service. To schedule an
appointment at the Senior
Center, contact Happy Feet at
763-560-5136. All clinics at the
Senior Center will be held the
4th Friday of every month from
1:00-4:00 p.m. The next clinics
are scheduled for June 23,
July 28, and August 25.
Meals on Wheels &
Congregate Dining
Congregate Dining and Meals on
Wheels continue to operate at the
Senior Center on Mondays~
through Fridays. Meals are
served at 11:30 a.m. The cost is
$2.25 for anyone 60+ and $5.08
for anyone under age 60. Meals
on Wheels is a great program for
any senior (age 60+) who is
unable to travel to the Senior
Center for meals. A good
example for using this service is if
you've been ill and are unable to
cook meals at home. If you know
of anyone who could use this
service, please call 937-1900
ext. 256 for qualifying details.
Day 1 - Depart U.S.: Cross the Atlantic on Swissair. (D)
Day 2 - Lucerne: Arrive in Zurich and travel to Lucerne on
your deluxe coach. Arrive at your home for the next seven
nights, the Grand Hotel Europe. Enjoy dinner this evening
~" in the chandelier-filled dining room. (B) D
Day 3 - Lucerne: Tour your host city and see one of the
world's most famous monuments, the Lion's Monument. It
is a spectacular monument carved from natural rock to com-
memorate the heroic death of Swiss mercenaries in 1792.
Also see the Chapel Bridge, Jesuit Church and city hall. B D
Day 4 - Interlaken / Bern: Cross the Bruening Pass which
is dotted with Swiss chalets, farms, rivers, lakes. Today is
a picture postcard day. Arrive in the mountain world of
BerneseOberland and the Village of Brienz, a lakeside
woodcarving center. Tour a woodcarving factory and see
master craftsmen creating their art. Continue to Interlaken
which is located between the Lakes of Brienz and Thun, at
the foot of the world - famous Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau
peaks. Here you have time to stroll down the beautiful main
street filled with shops and gardens. Continue your circle
route as you travel to Switzerland's romantic capital, Berne.
The city dates back to the middle ages and has been
granted world landmark status. See the arcade, old town,
the impressive Clock Tower with the figure-play, the astro-
nomical clock and the flower-adorned fountains. B D
Day 5 - Black Forest / Rhine Falls: Travel to one of the
most beautiful areas of southern Germany, the Black For-
...est. It is a special place with beautiful scenery and vast pine
:ree forests. Pass St. Blasien & Lake Schluchse to Lake
Titisee where you will stop for a visit to this famous cuckoo
clock - making area. Continue to the Rhine Falls. Have
your camera ready for a great photo of Europe's "Niagara
Falls." B D
Day 6 - Lucerne I Lugano option: This day is yours to do
as you wish. There is much to see and do. Visit Lugano,
where Switzerland meets Italy in a Mediterra,nean setting.
Swiss is the nationality, but Italian is the language, culture
and cuisine. You may also choose to visit Mt. Pilatus. B D
Day 7 - Four Country Tour I Germany-Austria-
Liechtenstein-Switzerland: Drive through rolling hills to
Pfaffikon before heading to the shores of Lake Walen and its
awesome backdrop of sheer mountain peaks. Arrive in
Vaduz, the capital city of Liechtenstein. From there to Feld-
kirch (Austria) and then to Lindau (Germany) where you
have free time for lunch. Later you continue your circle
route as you drive to Meersburg and take the ferry across
Lake Konstanz towards Lucerne. B D
Day 8 - Lucerne I Castle and cheese factory option I
Fondue dinner: Today you can take a cruise on Lake
Lucerne, take a last look at the shops, stroll along the lake
or take a half-day option to a Swiss castle & cheese factory.
Tonight, enjoy a Swiss party which features great entertain-
ment with yodeling, the famous dances and music of the

Day 9 - Lucerne I Zurich / Home: You depart Lucerne for
a city tour of Zurich. Here, drive along the Hohenstrasse
that offers spectacular views of the surrounding Alps and to
Rapperswil, the City of the Roses. See rose gardens, the
castle and the deer park at Lindenhof. Afterwards, board
your return flight for the U.S. B (L,S)
