Over 800 kids and parents enjoyed an evening of entertainment, games, refreshments, trick-or-treating, and hay rides. Tile following are general comments I have regarding the components of this event. Hay Rides Two hayracks seemed to work well within the three-hour time flame of the event. Lines for a ride were no longer than 5 minutes in length. · Use of the grass area north of the Recreation Center aided in providing better lines and an overall better safety route. · Use of the north doors of the Recreation Center to exit people to the hayrides worked well. [Musical Entertainment The Touch of Magic "Oscar and Half Pint" show was a big hit. · With all the background noise it was difficult for the audience to hear the entertainment. Make sure they use a sound system next year. · Allowing the entertainment to have the entire gym seemed to work ~vell for both the entertainment group and the audience. Face Painting · Having tile face painters in the back corner of tile school gym provided for overall better traffic and line control. · There was never a long line waiting for the face painters, so next year three face painters will do thejob. Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation Superintendent November 21, 2000 Page 2 [ Refreshments · Continue using rooms 3 & 4 for refreshments. Having four different cookie selections seemed to work well. · Continue to have ample volunteers to keep this room clean and moving smoothly. [Games · The use of the school gym for the games worked well. The amount of people that participated in this activity helped with traffic flow and also provided another fun event for families to enjoy. · Providing games does require the use of more funds for prizes, etc. [ Volunteers/CRC Staff ] · The use of the Boy Scouts, Chaska High School Key Club, Park Commissioners, and local business volunteers were key to the success of this event. · Coordinating event registration, set up and clean up with the Recreation Center staff is key to running a successful event. [ General Comments ] · The lobby set-up for walk-in registrations worked well and assisted in alleviating any initial congestion at the event. · Having the "scary room" in rooms #1 and #2 allowed participants to enter this activity immediately upon arrival to the Recreation Center. · Continue to have costumed characters hand out candy further down the hallway to assist with traffic flow. · Continue to make use of the school gym in some capacity. · Shorten the event run it from 5:30 - 7:30 or 8:00 p.m. Two hours gives people a significant amount of time to do everything they want. · Put the times of the entertainment shows on the activity flyer. g:\park\hallow\evaluation00.doc 2000 Halloween Party Expense Report Revenue 462 Participants @ $3.00 $1,386.00 Expenditures 101-145-4130 Target - Candy, etc. Paper Warehouse Merlin' s Hardware U.S. Toy Oriental Trading Festival Subway $ 1009.72 51.40 2.33 157.60 70.35 85.72 163.87 $1,540.99 101-145-4300 Touch of Magic - Entertainment Ken Theis - Hayrides Maund Entertainment - Face Painters $ 440.00 475.00 405.00 $1,320.00 Total Expenditures Total Revenue $ 2,860.99 1,386.00 $1,474.99
