Softball across the Twin Cities is declining, however, we were able to add a few more teams. I will continue to look at new ways to add additional teams to our leagues. Corporate League The Corporate League had 7 teams this year compared to 8 last year. Overall, the Corporate League was satisfied with the league. We have a solid base of talent, and with new industry and businesses moving into town, the league hopefully will increase. Women's League This year again Chanhassen and Eden Prairie combined their Women's Leagues. Both Women's Leagues have had low registration numbers in the past, so the two leagues were combined to have 14 teams. Feedback from the teams has been very positive. Teams were categorized by their previous years record and placed with teams of equal talent and ability. Games were played at Round Lake and Lake Ann every week and teams generally alternated locations from week to week. I will definitely combine leagues again with Eden Prairie. The league continues to be a great success. Over 40 This league had 8 teams this year, which created a nice schedule. It has been challenging at times to find and retain umpires but this year I found solid umpires and they officiated all season. For the most part this league behaved themselves this year which was a plus. Hopefully we can add a team or two next year. The CiU of Chanhassen. Todd Hoffman October 18, 2000 Page 2 Men' s Open The Men's Open league has continued to be our most popular league. We had 20 teams this year. The open eligibility rule really has helped the Men's Open League the most. The interest remains the highest in the lower division where teams feel they can compete. I split the 20 teams into 3 separate divisions in order to match the talents of teams. This created a more enjoyable experience. The league continues to flourish and should stay healthy. Co-Rec The Co-Rec League increased from 6 to 9 teams. Hopefully, increased interest in this league will continue. Most of the teams playing in the league are there to have fun and to socialize, which will continue to be the main focus. General Comments: · Improve umpires knowledge of rules and policies. · Try not to schedule 9:00 p.m. games. · Play rain-out/make-up games on regularly scheduled playing night - not on weekends. · Continue to schedule an extra game for teams, eliminating byes. · Find and train more umpires. · Continue using the weather line to update status of game by 3:30 p.m. · Change t-shirt design for first and second place teams. · Teams were very happy with open eligibility. · Investigate adding double-header league. · Have teams pay their own state tournament fees. This will hold them accountable for using the berth. g:\park~sb\2001 summereval.doc 2001 Summer Softball Revenue/Expenditures REVENUE $22,320.00 TOTAL REVENUE $22,320.00 EXPENDITURES Umpires $7,270.00 Umpire Coordinator 1,500.00 State Berths 1,500.00 Sanction Fees 980.00 TOTAL $11,250.00 Softballs $2,709.36 T-shirts 797.50 TOTAL $3,506.86 TOTAL REVENUE TOTAL EXPENDITURES $22,320.00 $14,756.86 BALANCE $7,563.14 g:\parkksbk2001 l>,evenues&Expenditures
