Hi Todd,
This is Linda Kramer calling and I wanted to mention that I read in the paper
that the Chanhassen Recreation Center may be closed on Sundays and I was just
wanted to put in my 2 cents worth. I hope that it can stay open on Sundays, at
least Sunday afternoons, because I do use it. I work full time and a lot of times
Sundays are a good time for me to go in the afternoon.

The Chaska Community Hockey
Association believes in creating
an environment which fosters
the skill development of all
CCHA players with an emphasis
on fair play and the pure
enjoyment of the game by its
players, it will, to the best of its
ability, be fair in team selec-
tions, ensure the quality of its
coaching staff, and foster a
balance between playing and
winning. This program is
created to stress sportsman-
ship, friendship, goodwill,

A recap of
USA Hockey Code of Conduct
for parents, players, coaches,
spectators, and on-ice
officials is outlined below.
Please review and familiarize
yourself with these
expectations
before the season starts.
It will take all of us
working together to insure
we are in compliance. - .....
Remember your role, it's when roles try to cross into other
roles that we run into problems; i.e., coaches, players,
spectators who try to officiate or parents who try to coach

Do not force your children to participate in sports, but support their
desires to play their chosen sport. Children are involved in organized
sports for their enjoyment. Make it fun.
Encourage your child to play by the rules. Remember, children learn
best by example so applaud the good plays of both teams
Do not embarrass your child by yelling at players, coaches, or
officials. By showing a positive attitude toward the game and all of its
participants, your child will benefit
Emphasize skill development and practices and how they benefit
your young athlete. De-emphasize games and competition in the
lower age groups
Know and study the rules of the game, and support the officials on
and off the ice. This approach will help in the development and support
of the game. Any criticism of the officials only hurts the game.
Applaud a good effort in both victory and defeat, and enforce the
positive points of the game. Never yell or physically abuse your child
after a game or practice -- it is destructive. Work toward removing
the physical and verbal abuse in youth sports.
Recognize the importance of volunteer coaches. They are important to
the development of your child and the sport. Communicate with them and
support them.
If you enjoy the game learn all you can about hockey-- and volunteer

· Winning is a consideration, but not the only one, nor the most important one. Care more about the child
than winning the game. Remember, players are involved in hockey for fun and enjoyment.
' Be a positive role model to your players, display emotional maturity and be alert to the physical safety
of players.
* Be generous with your praise when it is deserved; be consistent and honest; be fair and just; do not
criticize players publicly; learn to be a more effective communicator and coach; don't yell at players
* Adjust to personal needs and problems of players; be a good listener; never verbally or physically abuse
a player or official; give all players the opportunity to improve their skills, gain confidence and develop
self-esteem, teach them the basics.
* Organize practices that are fun and challenging for your players. Familiarize yourself with the rules,
techniques and strategies of hockey; encourage all your players to be team players
* Maintain an open line of communication with your players' parents. Explain the goals and objectives of
your association.
' Be concerned with the overall development of your players. Stress good health habits and clean living
' To play the game is great, to love the game is greater

~ny of you are unaware of how much time and effort goes into
~etting the season off to a good start. There is a lot of planning
and execution that began 5+ months ago.
Just wanted to say special thanks to Rick Fiebiger Holly Nelson,
Missy Winge/Tracy Raser (assisting Holly with admin side) and

slictd!
What a pleasure to attend the 1 0/22 Board meeting with the only
comments from the parents in attendance were there to thank

~.. concession stand!
"~{~i (huvry, mony time slots ere already token) .{~"'
Everyone has busy schedules which has made it more difficult to insure we
~ave people to cover all the shifts in the concession stand. The bottom line
s the stand needs to be covered. It has been a large task for one or two
people to make calls lo find people to fill remaining slots. Therefore, this year
I'd like to try something different to help make the process more effective.
Here's ~ow it works:
t. The schedule will first be made available to parents wanting to earn extra
ice credits as it has been in the past. The November schedule is available to
start signing up for hours. The book is located in the concession stand. The
remaining calendars will be available by 11/01/0~.
2. In addition, I have assigned a team per week to cover any shortages.Team
~grs will be notified the week before of any remaining open slols that need
to be filled. Please contact your team parents and coordinate fillin§ the
remaining slots.
Once your team week is completed, your team will not be contacted again for
the remainder of the season. By utihzing teams, we can reach 15-30 sets of
parents with openings in a short amount of time and not keep tapping into the
same individuals to always cover the open slots.
3. Anyone working the hours will earn the $7.00/hour credit. It's a great
opportunity to get a head start on next season's assessment or earn cash
back at the end of this season.
4. Teams were assigned in descending order except where a switch was
necessary because the next team on the list was out of town for a tournament
Schedule as follows:
Week of 1t/05 - 11/1t/01 Bantam A

-- Heads up we will also be looking for parents to help staff this tournament
because we only have two home teams in the tournament, therefore, we'll
need your help to fill remaining slots. We'll be looking for Concessions,
Merchandise Ticket Sellers, Penalty Box, Stats, and Timekeepers. More details
with schedule to follow shortly.

Mite, MiM-Mite Season/Evaluations:
Mini-Mite and Mite evaluation practices start on
Saturday, Not'. 3. With evaluations starting on Saturday,
November 10.
Practice session will be a skills clinic focused on getting
the kids back on the ice and excited about hockey.
Next session will be skills evaluations. The evaluations
will be conducted by the Mite Coaching Staff.
Based on the skill scores, we will create slx equal teams
for Mini-Mites and eight equal Mite teams on the
evening of November 11th. Your child s coach will then
contact you. All consideration will be given to the
creation of teams with equal talent.
Schedule: You can assume that all ice time will be on
Saturdays and Sundays for 18 weeks in length. Your
coach will give more detail to you after the evaluation
process.
,4t~essment & Fees: We ask that assessment and fees be
paid by November 15th, 2001. Remember, players will
not be allowed to skate after that date unless all fees are
paid or appropriate arrangements are made.

CCHA is working on a our new website!
It is a free website hosted by eteamz,
utilized successfully by other
associations.
November i we will launch the site as
a test. There will be classes set up
for the board members, key volunteers,
coaches and team managers as they will
be responsible for input. Bryan
McGovern is reviewing the format.
Some of the benefits we will enjoy:
· special sections for each team controlled
by each team (with their own calendars
and photo albums!)
· secured sections, password protected
· online registration
· updates (as often as necessary!)
Eventually,this website will replace
the newsletter. So feel free to check
it out and let us know what you think.
ice Management
Bob Laazl
· Bob Lanzi is responsible for scheduling over 1250+ hrs to 15 upper teams
and 14 Mite/MM teams. What may seem like a small request or change for
'~'~ team can really throw a curve ball in the overall schedule.
;refore, your schedule is your schedule. If you need to make adjustments
To accommodate a scrimmage, you need to negotiate a trade with another
team. The team manager initiating the trade should email a
confirmation of the change addressed to Bob Lanzi, the team manager of
other team(s) impacted by the trade, and appropriate level
commissioner(s).This will insure everyone is on the same page.
· Bob's email is blanzi@edenprairie.org. It is VERY important that he is
made aware of changes so we have an accurate schedule. Please keep
him posted via email during the season when you schedule a scrimmage
outside of Chaska so he does not double book you for a practice in Chaska
that same day. Bob is working on the December practice schedule and will
forward that in the next few weeks. He is the CCHA point of contact with the
City on all ice related issues.
o Jenise Jenson, the new Rink Manager, wants to be made aware of any
issues so she can address them. She needs specifics. Please email the
facts to Bob as soon as possible and he will follow up with Jenise. She will
also be keeping Bob posted on issues from their end. He will follow up with
teams involved.
- Please be on the ice for the team's allotted time only. For example, 5:45
-6:45 pm means exactly that -- not 5:35 or 6:50 if no one is on the ice.
-Non-Prime Ice- The CCHA is accountable to purchase 100 hours of non
prime ice during the season. Non prime is ice after 10:00 pm and before
8:00 am. This will be distributed equally across the 15 upper teams. The
plan is to utilize late night ice on Friday and Saturday night and early morn-
ing ice (before 8:00 am) on Saturday and Sunday morning to minimize the
after 10:00 pm ice during the week.
Thanks 1o Bob Lanzi for all the hard work and extra effort to get our ice schedule off
to a great start. Calendars have been distributed to team managers through 12/01/'01.
Any questions on your ice schedule should be forwarded to your team'manager.
Thanks to the following individuals participated in the ice draw with Bob -- Fred
Whitney. Mike Buller, Pat Bloomfield. Susie Blake, Alexa Donaldson. Paul Berens,

that there be NO change in the MAHA age categories.
The final vote by the MAHA Board will take place at the winter

North Dakota Hockey will follow Minnesota and stay at the same
age level.
Teams from outside Minnesota will still be able to come in an
play in tournaments. Minnesota teams will probably not be able
to play outside of Minnesota with the exception of North Dakota
and Canada.
A thank you letter to CCHA for hosting D6 Coaches Clinic,..
Brian,
My tl~anks to you, Susie and the Chaska Hockey Association volunteers
who helped setup the acconmtodations and the early Saturday morning

Bob O Connor was something he could never have attended at home.
Please pass along my thmgts to Dave Snuggeruud and the Chaska Varsity
players who contributed by being demonstrators during the on ice portion:
we had an up tempo drill session that kept the interest of the coaches.
Thanks again,
Doug Andreen. District 6 ttead Coach
