Senior Center Activities Update
Participation in all of the events and programs at the Senior Center this summer and fall
has been great! We continue to accept new participants and have organized new programs
to help attract additional participants. The new Senior Center has allowed us to expand
participation in programs and also add more activities now having 2 spaces to use. The
weekly column that appears in Chanhassen Villager has really heightened the awareness
of the Senior Center activities and programs and has attracted many new participants.
The Senior Center Open House Celebration which was held on 9!18 was a great success
with a 160+ people in attendance. Local merchants donated many wonderful door prizes
and the entertainment and food was enjoyed by all! Our bi-monthly specials (which were
formally the Saturday Specials) have had huge turnouts. The Oktoberfest Party was
attended by 55 people and our annual Holiday Party had 75 people attending. The Flu
Shot Clinic this year gave 162 shots. The new Senior Center allows us to have bigger
events hosted here opposed to using the Recreation Center. Rental inquires and rentals
have also increased.

The Woodcarvers are working on another new and wonderful project for the Senior
Center. .. that being a carved totem poll, which will feature the state of Minnesota
symbols. Stop in and see this beautiful work in progress.
The Senior Center continues to work with the Chaska & Parks Recreation Department and
the Eden Prairie Senior Center to support and create new opportunities for area seniors. I
have meet with management of the new Summerwood Apartments and Centennial Hills to
invite and inform them of our activities/programs. We have also partnered with local
elementary schools for intergenerational programs for seniors.
Listed below are the averages for each daily activity for the months of April and May and
the monthly attendance numbers for June-November 2004.
