PROJECTS:
A. Chanhassen Hills Park
B. Curry Farms Park
C. Lake Susan Park
D. North Lotus Lake Park
E. Rice Marsh Lake Park
Todd Hoffman presented the staff report for this item. Jeff Daniel, 1321 Stratton Court in Curry
Farms Park asked for the timeframe as to the beginning and completion of the project. Kris
Solie-Johnson, 6421 Bretton Way in Curry Farms asked for clarification on the type of
equipment, timeframe and process for installation. Matt Jones, 1310 Stratton Court in Curry
Farms stated his desire to help in any way to make the process move forward. Being a new
resident to the city he stated one of the reasons his family moved to Chanhassen was because of
the strong Park and Rec program. Kim Grant, 95 Shasta Circle was interested in the age group
that would be served in North Lotus Lake Park. In regards to the flooring, she would suggest
not using pea gravel again. Eric Sellman from 6421 Pleasant Park Drive, having 3 boys ages 2 to
6, suggested having equipment for the 6 to 12 year range. Marcia Crist, 6501 Welsley Court
stated their family uses all of the parks in Chanhassen but primarily Curry Farms and Lotus
Lake. They have taken advantage of the park program, the playground program in the summer
which has been terrific so they are interested in improvements to all the parks and really glad the
city is doing this. Jo Vicchiollo, 8046 Cheyenne Avenue with 3 boys, 3, 4, and 8 years old, used
to take their kids to Rice Marsh Lake but now go to Bandimere because it fits their needs better,
especially the toddler park and climbing. Todd Hoffman addressed the questions and concerns
raised by the residents. Commissioner Scharfenberg reviewed the process staff and the
commission undertook last year for playground equipment replacement in Bandimere, Meadow
Green and Lake Ann Parks. At this point in the meeting the Park and Recreation Commission
took a recess to meet informally with the neighbors. After reconvening, the commissioners
discussed time line and procedures for how to proceed through the process. No formal action
was taken on this item.
