We re- visited these properties today and find the property maintenance issues referred to in the previous letters (see enclosed) have been not addressed. If the following corrections to these properties are not completed within thirty days this matter will be referred to the City Attorney for appropriate action: 6397 Bretton Way: • Repair damaged/deteriorated soffit. • Repaint. • Remove outdoor storage. 6411 Bretton Way: • Repair /replace siding. • Repair damaged/deteriorated foundation masonry. • Replace damaged and/or missing shingles. • Repair /replace damaged windows. • Repair /replace exterior trim, facia, soffits. • Repaint. • Discontinue outdoor storage. In addition to the above property maintenance issues, we have found some type of concrete structure (approx. 40 "x40 "and 36" deep), covered only with random pieces of plywood, embedded in the soil due west of the 6397 Bretton Way building. These properties were re- visited on January 7, 2013 and we find the property maintenance issues referred to in the previous letters (see enclosed letters and property maintenance report date 1/7/12) have been not addressed. In addition to the property maintenance issues referred to in previous letters and the January 7, 2013 property maintenance report we have found: • Some type of concrete structure (approx. 40 "x40 "and 36" deep), covered only with random pieces of plywood, embedded in the soil due west of the 6397 Bretton Way building. This cavity must be immediately protected (filled with clean soil, acceptably, securely covered or guard- railed) to prevent personal injury. • Two small sheds (north and south of the upper driveway) which must be secured from entry and are in need of repairs. As indicated in the December 4, 2012 letter, a copy of this letter will be forwarded to the City Attorney's Office with a request for appropriate action. The City of Chanhassen property maintenance ordinances require the exterior of the structure (Sec. 7 -63) be maintained in good repair. In response to the complaints, we visited the property. We found the building in need of extensive repair, as required by the City of Chanhassen Property Maintenance Code. This includes, but is not limited to: • Repair /replace siding. • Repair damaged/deteriorated foundation masonry. • Replace damaged and /or missing shingles. • Repair /replace damaged windows. • Repair /replace exterior trim, facia, soffits. • Repaint. • Discontinue outdoor storage. Property maintenance issues for these properties include the following • Foundation — evaluation and repair (spalling/possibly failing CMU). • Repair /replace exterior stairway. • Repair /replace siding. • Repair /replace exterior trim, soffit and fascia. • Repair /replace damaged and /or missing shingles. • Repair /replace damaged windows. • Repaint. • Some type of concrete structure (approx. 40 "x40 "and 36" deep), covered only with random pieces of plywood, embedded in the soil due west of the 6397 Bretton Way building. This cavity must be immediately protected (filled with clean soil, acceptably, securely covered or guard - railed) to prevent personal injury. • Two small sheds (north and south of the upper driveway) must be secured from entry and repaired/repainted. • Outdoor storage of materials and equipment is prohibited. The City has made repeated attempts to convince the owner of these properties to bring them into compliance with City Code with no result (see enclosed letters). Therefore, the City requests your office begin appropriate action to require these properties be brought into compliance with City of Chanhassen property maintenance code provisions. Wood pallets and debris by the fire pit must be removed. The wood maybe burned if cut down to be within ordinance for burning. 2. All scrap metal on the highway side and behind the garage must be removed. 3. The Allied waste trash container must be out of sight of the public. 4. All weeds and grass must be cut and kept within ordinace from now on. 5. The two vans, if not registered to the property owner at that property or leasee of the property, must be removed from the site. 6.
