Each concert consisted of an hour-long performance and was free of charge to the public. This was a decrease of one concert from the 2014 series schedule due to inclement weather. Attendance averaged approximately 250 people per show. Each concert featured a different type of music including jazz, country, and blues. This year also featured two interactive kids' performances, including one daytime and one evening performance. The highest attended concert was Sound of Simon on August 13 with an estimated 400 people in attendance. KleinBank of Chanhassen was again the title sponsor of the event. Their sponsorship of $2,500 is greatly appreciated and helps keep the expenses down for this program. In addition to their cash donation, they also provided free water for each concert, and balloons for kids' concerts. Staff recommends continuing the excellent partnership with KleinBank. At each concert, city staff sold concession items including pop, candy, fresh popcorn and other snacks, which continues to be a nice addition to the event. Concession sales totaled $421.09 for the summer. Overall this program is valued by the community and staff recommends we continue it in the future. Suggestions for 2016: • Continue to work with KleinBank of Chanhassen to explore ways to expand the partnership in future years. • Continue to contract with local bands with large local fan bases. • Continue selling fresh snacks and beverages at each performance. Introduce new menu items to keep the offerings desirable and increase Chanhassen is a Community for Life - Providing for Today and Planning for Tomorrow Mr. Jerry Ruegemer August 24, 2015 Page 2 concession sales. Look into the possibility of having a concession stand provider to operate this service. • Continue to offer two interactive music shows for kids, one during the lunch hour and one in the evening. • Continue providing local daycares with a summer concert schedule and a personal invitation to attend the free lunchtime show.
