F-1. Development of Future Park Land around Lake Ann
Aanenson, Kate From: Hoffman, Todd Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2016 1:46 PM To: Aanenson, Kate Subject: FW: Future Expansion of Lake Ann Park Attachments: future intiatives 2030 comp plan park map.pdf FYI Original Message From: Hoffman,Todd Sent: Wednesday, August 17, 2016 1:45 PM To: PkRc Cc: Park and Recreation Subject: Future Expansion of Lake Ann Park Good Afternoon Commissioners We are fielding a good number of calls and inquiries about the future of the land west of Lake Ann Park. The 2030 City of Chanhassen Comprehensive Plan identifies portions of this property for an initiative that would result in a future park preserve with public trail loop connections. The narrative associated with P- 1. Reads: Expand Lake Ann Park to create a premier community park. Expansion of the park would incorporate natural woodlands west of Lake Ann and would preserve views across the lake, protect wildlife habitat, and preserve the community's natural heritage. The expansion would allow for a loop trail around Lake Ann and a connection to Lake Lucy. All of this requires that the land is sold and the that the buyer intends to develop the property through the subdivision process and that the City is successful in negotiating and applying its land dedication and planning tools to fulfill the plan. The future is never certain and any number of scenarios could play out, but in the event the property is sold and eventually subdivided we want the Commission to be informed about the planning tools in place. Please contact me by phone or e-mail in the event you have questions in this regard.
