PRC SUM 2017 07 25 CHANHASSEN PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING SUMMARY MINUTES JULY 25, 2017 Chairman Scharfenberg called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. MEMBERS PRESENT:Steve Scharfenberg, Cole Kelly, Rick Echternacht, Jennifer Hougham, Karl Tsuchiya, Meredith Petouvis, Lauren Dale and Grant Schaeferle. Jim Boettcher arrived late. MEMBERS ABSENT:None. STAFF PRESENT:Todd Hoffman, Park and Recreation Director; Jerry Ruegemer, Recreation Superintendent; Katie Favro, Recreation Supervisor; and Adam Beer, Park Superintendent APPROVAL OF AGENDA:Chairman Scharfenberg approved the agenda as presented. PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENTS:Todd Hoffman discussed events scheduled for National Night Out. Chairman Scharfenberg reminded commission members about the combined commissions th tour scheduled for Tuesday, August 8. VISITOR PRESENTATIONS.Todd Neils, 990 Saddlebrook Curve, representing the Dugout Club and Chanhassen Athletic Association, reviewed positive comments received from softball and baseball tournaments held at Lake Ann Park and Chanhassen Rec Centerwith the one negative comment being that there are no permanent bathrooms at Lake Ann Park. He also discussed the need for lighting at Lake Susan Park and suggested CAA was willing to fund 25 percent of the cost. APPROVAL OF MINUTES:Boettcher moved, Echternacht seconded to approve the verbatim and summary Minutes of the Park and Recreation Commission meeting dated June 27, 2017 as presented. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 9 to 0. REVIEW DRAFT PARKS AND RECREATION SYSTEM, HKGi.Todd Hoffman introduced Gabrielle Grinde from Hoisington-Koegler Group Inc. who reviewed highlights of the draft Chanhassen Parks and Recreation System Plan. After questions and discussion from Commission members it was decided to bring the draft plan back to the advisory committee for further review and then back to the Park and Recreation Commission at their August meeting. CONSIDER RECOMMENDATION TO CITY COUNCIL, 2018-2022 PARK AND TRAIL ACQUISITION AND DEVELOPMENT CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM (CIP). Park and Recreation Commission Summary –July 25, 2017 Todd Hoffmanreviewed highlights from the 5 year park and trail acquisition and development CIP. After questions and discussion by commission members the following motion was made. Kelly moved, Boettcher seconded that the Park and Recreation Commission table the 2018- 2022 Park and Trail Acquisition and Development Capital Improvement Project (CIP) to the August meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 9 to 0. TH RECREATION PROGRAM REPORTS: 2017 4OF JULY CELEBRATION EVALUATION. th Katie Favro provided the report on the 4of July celebration evaluation.Commissioner Hougham commented that a number of carnival rides on Family Night got shut down so safety concerns could be addressed. COMMISSION MEMBER COMMITTEE REPORTS.None. COMMISSION MEMBER PRESENTATIONS.None. ADMINISTRATIVE PACKET.None. Boettcher moved, Hougham seconded to adjourn the meeting. All voted in favor and the motion carried unanimously with a vote of 9 to 0. The Park and Recreation Commission meeting was adjourned.
