Re: Planning Case No. #2020-20—Request for Variance: 6915 Highover Lane
Dear Mr. Carstensen:
The purpose of this letter is to facilitate the resolution of the outstanding variance request for your
parcel at 6915 Highover Lane. On October 6, 2020, the Planning Commission tabled the variance
request and directed you to work with City staff based on the comments provided. At that time, a 90-
day period was agreed on to provide time for revisions. On October 21, 2020, we had a phone
conversation about when staff would need to receive plans in order to review the revisions and have
the City Council/Planning Commission render a decision within the 90-day period. On October 23,
2020, you emailed me waiving the 90-day review deadline and stating that you wished for the
variance to appear on a future, unspecified Planning Commission meeting and be subject to that
meeting's review deadline. To date, revised plans have not been received and no date has been
proposed for reconsideration of the variance request.
Over a year has passed since the initial submittal of the variance request and the City believes that
adequate time has been provided to allow for revisions to the initial request. It is the City's intention
to resolve this case before the end of this calendar year. In order to accomplish this,you may either:
1) Provide the City with written notice that you are withdrawing the variance request. In this
case, the City will close the case administratively and no further action will be required.
2) Provide the City with written notice that you would like the case to be considered on either
the November 16, 2021 or the December 7, 2021 Planning Commission meeting. In this case,
you will need to provide the City with any revised or updated plans and documents by either
October 15, 2021 for the November meeting,or November 5, 2021 for the December
meeting.
