1980 02 27 e . e REGULAR SESSION CHANHASSEN PLANNING COMMISSION A meeting was held at the Chanhassen City Hall and at the Chanhassen Elementary School, Laredo Drive, Chanhassen, Minnesota on February 27, 1980. Present vlere: Clark Horn Tom Hamilton Art Partridge Jack Bell Also present were: Bob Waibel Mark Koegler Craig Mertz The following were also present: Kim Waldorf~ MickBoosaks,EdDunn, Julius Smith, Stelios Aslanidis, Jack Anderson, William Price, George Everett, Helen Everett, Nigel Chilvers, Chas Tefter, Ellen Chilvers, Mrs. M.M. Kurimchak, Carol Watson, Greg Frank, Jon Chmiel, Marge Anderson, Jean Way, Bruce Arnold, Harlan Blankenship, Donald Coban, Lawrence Klein, Al Klingelhutz, Jim Orr,Alan Mjolsnes, James Meyer, Hichael Thompson, Norm Grant, Kathy Holtmeier, Marian Paulson, Russell Frederick, Gary Skalberg, Gene Quinn, Bill Johnson, Gail and Jim Murphy, Diane Riegert, Jim Burdick, and Brigette Burdick. The Planning Commission interviewed candidates until 8:00 P.M. Chairman called the meeting to Order at 8:10 P.M. at the Chanhassen Elementary School. Chanhassen Dinner Theatre Kitchen Expansion Conditional Use Permit - Public Hearing Bob Waibel presented Staff recommendations on the plans to expand the Dinner Theatre kitchen. Robert Davis expalined the size and purpose of the kitchen expansion. Jack Bell moved, Art Partridge seconded, to close the public . hearing. Motion carried. Tom Hamilton moved, Art Partridge seconded, to approve the conditional use permit for the Chanhassen Dinner Theatre kitchen expansion plans and a variance to Building Moratorium Ordinance 47K contingent upon Staff recommendations. Motion carried. ,. e Lake Ann PUD, Lake Susan Hills West PRD" and Lake Susan Hills South PUD Bob Waibel stated that upon City Council, Planning Commission and Staff consultation, the public hearing scheduled for this meeting has been cancelled and tonights session will bean imfor- mational meeting. Upon Motion by Tom Hamilton, seconded by Art Partridge, the public hearings are hereby scheduled as follows: Lake Susan Hills West - March 26 Lake Ann PUD - April 9 Lake Susan Hills South - April 23 Informational Meeting Ed Dunn gave a history of the projects. He reported on the acreage, park and lake shore areas, he illustrated the sewer systems and showed the density allocations of each project. Jack Anderson addressed the transportation portion of the projects. At this point, the Planning Conwission left the meeting and returned to City Hall. Residents and concerned parties were welcome to remain at the School for questions and comments. e The Planning Commission resumed at 10:40 P.M. at City Hall. Site Plan Review-Burdick Office Proposal Bob Waibel explained the secondary review and presented Chanhassen's comments and recommendations. There was discussion on the right-of-ways, and the number of spaces needed in the parking lot. Points of concern were vacation of the road and future uses of the road. Art Partridge moved, Jack Bell seconded, that the City Council be recommended to approve the variance to the building moratorium ordinance and the proposed site plan. Site Plan Review - Burdick Office/Warehouse Proposal Bob Waibel explained the proposed facility. There was discussion on the uses and how this project will relate to the Downtown Redevelop- ment Plan. Craig Mertz discussed the zoning and variance ordinances ~nd informed that this proposal should be reviewed by the HRA. 2 .... e e e 4 " Open Discussion Craig Mertz distributed to the Planning Commission members the February, 1980 Proposed Chanhassen Downtown Redevelopment Project booklet which reflects the modification proposed by the HRA. The Planning Commission was polled and has for recommendation the following candidates to be submitted to the City Council in order of preference: 1. William Johnson 2. Mike Thompson 3.
