diameter, for deciduous
overstory stock.
•The potted trees are proposed
as part of a ‘reforestation mix
area’ planting.
Staff supports variance to allow 110 potted trees less than 2.5” diameter to be included on landscape plan
•Trees are proposed as reforestation so as to re-create a wooded area where tree clearing has occurred.
•Incorporating standard 2.5” plantings in addition to the potted trees in that area will produce size diversity that is more characteristic of a native tree stand.
•Smaller diameter trees potentially have less transplant shock and could have improved survival rates over larger diameter installed trees.

Applicant requests variance to Chap 18 -
Trees shall be from certified nursery stock
•Applicant is proposing to transplant 84 wild grown trees from site.
•Applicant has previously transplanted 27 wild grown trees from site and is including them in overall reforestation quantities.
•The total of 111 wild transplants proposed represents 35% of the total quantity required by code.
Staff support limited exemption from
certified nursery stock –no more than 10%
•Certified nursery stock ensures no pests or diseases are transferred from one area to another.
•Nursery stock is required to meet standards for root ball size and branching structure
•Certified nursery stock provides the best quality material for long term health and benefits to the property owner.
