Senior Center Activities Update
Participation in all of the events and programs at the Senior Center this summer
and fall has been great! All day and extended trips have exceeded anticipated
numbers. Club activities continue to add more participants with numbers being
great.
The quarterly newsletter, which is mailed to 550 people, has a new format. The
newsletter features comments from the coordinator, special events, health,
education and fitness happenings, trip information and our regular clubs and
acti vities.
The annual June Lake Ann Senior Center Picnic, which was sponsored and
hosted by the Chanhassen Lions, was a great success with 85 people in
attendance. Twelve members of the Lions Club were present, grilling and
serving food and providing entertainment. A great time was had by all and the
Lions have asked if "they can do it again next year."
I have started a "Meet and Greet Coffee" that will be held every other month.
This will be hosted by the SAB (Senior Advisory Board) and will provide new
participants with information about the center activities and be welcomed by
present participants. The first coffee was held September 14th with 22 people in
attendance.
Several new programs and classes are being offered and attendance has been
wonderful. All new programs have had maximum attendance.
.:. 1:1 Computer Tutoring. We have several senior center participants
who will volunteer their time to work one-on-one on Chanhassen seniors
on computer basics. This program started in July and we have had 17
people receive instruction.
.:. Library Catalog Class. Kathy Perschmann from the Chanhassen
Library taught participants how to use, search, reserve and renew books
on-line as well as beginning data base use.

The City of Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.

.:. Beginning Bridge Class
.:. Medicare Part D Program presentations (2) have been offered to
inform seniors about the new Medicare Part D Program. 45 people
attended the July presentation with 30 enrolled for the October one.
.:. Several activities highlighting Carver County's 150th Anniversary have
been offered by the Senior Center over the summer and this fall.
.:. Women's first annual Tea luncheon
As you can see, the Senior Center is a busy place where there is always
something going on - both old and new programs.
