Park and Recreation Commission

A regular meeting of the Chanhassen Park and Recreation Commission was called to
order on January 20, 1981 at 7:40 p.m. The following members were present:
Phyllis Pope, Tom Schoenecker, Mary Muelhausen, Michael Lynch and Chuck Koivisto.
MINUTES: A motion was made by Tom Schoenecker and seconded by Michael Lynch to
accept the minutes as read. Motion unanimously approved.
1981 CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIRMAN APPOINTMENTS: Tom Schoenecker made a motion and
was seconded by Chuck Koivisto that Phyllis Pope be appointed 1981 Chairman and
Michael Lynch be appointed as 1981 Vice Chairman. Motion unanimously approved.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION SERVICES: A motion w,as made by Michael Lynch and seconded by
Chuck Koivisto to direct the staff to investigate publication of Chanhassen Park
and Recreation facilities in the Minnetonka and ChaskaCommunity Services Bulletin
as well as the Chanhassen Newsletter. Motion unanimously approved.
PARK ELEMENT OF COMPREHENSIVE PLAN: A motion was made by Tom Schoenecker and seconded
by Mary Muelhausen that the Park and Recreation Commission accept and endorse the
report in its preliminary form and suggested that it be sent to the Planning Commission
for their approval. Motion unanimously approved.

Discussion on naming of the area parks was tabled until the next meeting.
RESIGNATION: A motion was made by Michael Lynch and seconded by Chuck Koivisto to
accept Tom Ellis' resignation as announced in his letter of December 3, 1980. Motion
unanimously approved.
PARK ORDINANCE FEE: A motion was made by Tom Schoenecker and seconded by Michael Lynch
that the Council review the park fee for residental and commercial. Motion unanimously
approved.
A motion was made by Chuck Koivisto and seconded by Michael Lynch to reappoint Tom
Schoenecker for another 3 year term to the Park and Recreation Commission. Motion
unanimously approved.
A decision to fill the opening on the Park and Recreation Commission was tabled until
a later date while applicants are being considered.
Chuck Koivisto made a motion to adjourn and was seconded by Michael Lynch. Motion
unanimously approved. Meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
