Park and Recreation Commission

July 10, 1979, City Office Lower Level
A regular meeting of the Chanhassen Park and Recreation Commission was
called to order at 7:35 p.m. The following members were present:
Phyllis Pope, Walter Coudron, Mary Muehlhausen and Joe Betz. Russ
Larson was also present.
Phyllis Pope made a motion to accept the minutes of the last meeting.
Mary Muehlhausen seconded the motion. Motion carried. No negative votes.
Russ Larson discussed his letter to Don Ashworth concerning the
industrial/commercial park charge and the changing of ordinances relevant
to it.
At 8:00 p.m. Officer Walter Coudron was called to. duty in Excelsior.
After considerable dialogue, the Park and Recreation Commission concurs
with the city attorney1s letter of July 6, 1979, regarding the commercial!
industrial park charge and recommends continued evaluation using a 1%
figure of the val~e of the structures to be erected thereon as disclosed,
by the building permit application and the s~te plan improvements as
computed by the City at the July 16, 1979, City Council
meeting.

The Commission would like to recommend the amending of Park Ordinance
59, Section 36, Public Swimming, Paragraph C, Bathing Beach Rules and
Regulations for Parks, Rule 3 by adding a paragraph stating:
(1) The Community Services Director may establish additional
swimming regulations to insure the in~ent and purpose
of designating a safe swimming area is maintained.
Commission members interviewed Michael Lynch who is applying for the
seat on the commission vacated by Shirley Chellis. The Commission
unanimously agreed that they recommend Mr. Lynch be appointed to the
Chanhassen Park and Recreation ~ommission.
