Park and Recreation Commission Minutes
July 5, 1977
City Hall
The regular comndssion meeting was called to order by Joe Betz, Chairman
at 7:40 p.m. The members that were present were Joe Betz, Phyllis Pope,
Shirley Chellis, and Francis Callahan, the Community Services Director.
Denis Stedman and Walter Co'udron came later in the evening.
A motion was made by Pat Boyle to have the minutes of the June 7, 1977
meeting be corrected with a few changes. Motion carried.
Ms. Mary Muehlausen appeared before the Commission and,ex:pres$ed a desire
to become a member of the Park and Recreation Commission. The Commission
interviewed Ms. Muehllhausen. .
Mr. Peterson made an application to become amernber of the Park and
Recreation Commission. He was invited to attend theJ~ly 5 meeting to
be interviewed. He did not attend.

Budget 1977. Shirley Chellis made a motion that ,the Park and Recreation
Commission allocate an expenditure Of up to $1000.00 from the }?ark
Acquisition and Development Fund for development of West.ern Hills Park.
This expenditure can be used' for picnic tables, boardwalks, benches,
shrubs, trees, check dam, and possible ~xcavation. Pat Boyle seconded
the motion. Motion carried.

Shirley Chellis moved to postpone the discussion on the $3000.00 until
the special goals and policies meeting. Pat Boyle seconded it. Motion
carried.
Picnic in the Park was discussed.
Land Acquisition on Lotus Lake. A motion was made by Phyllis Pope and
seconded by Pat Boyle to have the city look at the property on the north
west side of Lotus Lake as possible property for a future park. Motion
carried.
Goals and Objectives Meeting. There will be a special Park and Recreatic
meeting on the goals and objectives on July 13, 1977 at 7:30 p.m.
Tennis Court Grant. A motion was made by Denis Stedman and seconded by
Shirley Chellis to approve the tennis court application which was re-
commended by Francis Callahan, the Community Services Director. Motion
carried.
Pat Boyle made a motion and seconded by Phyllis Pope to adjourn the meetj
