Park and Recreation Commission

A regular meeting of the Park and Recreation Commission was called
to order by Chairman Joe Betz at 7:40 p.m. on September 8, 1977.
The following members were present: Joe Betz, ~hirley Chellis,
Pat Boyle, Walter Coudron, Denis Stedman and Phyllis Pope.
Phyllis Pope made a motion to accept the minutes of the August 2nd,
1977, meeting. Pat Boyle seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Shirley Chellis made a motion to accept the minutes of the August 9,
1977, meeting. Denis Stedman seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Shirley Chellis made a motion to appoint Mary Muehlhaesen to the
Park and Recreation Commission filling the position now open. Pat
Boyle seconded the motion. Motion .,carried.
The Chairman directed Mr. Callahan to write a letter to Mr. Setter
thanking him and informing him that we would like to keep his application
on file for future reference.
Discussion on the Chanhassen Long Range Park and Capital Improvements
Plan was conducted. The Commission was in agreement that the plan
which was done in 1970 by Brauer and Associates was very comprehensive.
The Commission members felt the plan should be reviewed and upgraded
~ since there have been man~ demographic changes since 1970. After much
discussion concerning priorities, Shirley Chellis made a motion to
make the acquisition of property on the north end of Lotus Lake the
number one priority of the City of Chanhassen for 1978. Denis Stedman
seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Pat Boyle made a motion to make acquisition of more property to
enlarge Lake Ann Park, the second priority. Walter Coudron seconded
the motion. Motion carried.
