Metropolitan Development Guide of January 22, 1970 relating
to the prohibition of the discharge of effluent into all
lakes in the Metropolitan area, and
WHEREAS, private individual 'sewage disposal systems have
proven unsafe and unreliable in many instances in the Chanhassen
area in that there has been contamination of underground water
supplies and the surfacing of sewage effluent to the serious
detriment of public health, and
WHEREAS, duplication of sewage service installation costs to
the property owner result from the practice of permitting building
construction in areas where public sewage disposal is not
presently available, and
WHEREAS, the furnishing of public sanitary sewer service to all
areas of the Village is not feasible at the present time, with
the consequences that priorities need be established for the
furnishing of said service to the more critical-need areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Park and Recreation
Commission recommends the adoption of the following policy by
the Village Council:
1. That subdivision plats be approved only for Village areas
served by public sanitary sewers.
2. That building permits in the Village areas not served
by public sanitary sewers be limited to one (1) permit
for each five (5) acre tract.
