RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the Park and Recreation Commission of the Village of
Chanhassen is in agreefuentwith the policy announced in the
Metropolitan Development Guide of January 22, 1970 relating
to the prohibition of the discharge of effluent into all lakes
in the Metropolitan area, and
WHEREAS, private individual sewage disposal systems have proven)
unsafe and unreliable' in many instances in the Chanhassen area
in that there has been contamination of underground water supplies .
and the surfacing of sewage effluent to the serious detJ;"iment, ,:~
of public health, and
WHEREAS, duplication of sewage service installation costs to
the property owner result from the practice of permitting bU!lding,;;
construction in areas where public sewage disposal is not ! "
presently available, and
WHEREAS, the furnishing of public sanitary,. sewer service to all
areas of the Village is not feasible at the present time, with
the consequences that priorities need be established for the
furnishing of said service to the more critical-need areas.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Park and Recreation
Commission recommends the adoption of the following policy by
the Village Council:
1. That subdivision plats be approved only for Village
areas served by public sanitary sewers.
2. That building permits in the Village areas not served
by public sanitari sewers be limited to one (1) permit
for each five (5) acre tract.
