Monthly City Council update
Fire Department Overview:
Staffing is at 46 active firefighters as of February 17, 2006, allocation is 45 PTE's.
As of February 5, we are at 44 calls for the year, down from 55 at the same time in 2005. Since our
last report we have not had any structure fires. We responded to Excelsior twice and Eden Prairie
once for mutual aid calls. Our A group of rookies have been responding to some fire calls.
Fire Training:
During February we will be conducting several live bum exercises on two homes located on
Audubon Road which are being removed for new housing projects. The probationary firefighters are
still involved with classes and are obtaining their state certifications as firefighters and medical first
responders.
Fire Marshal:
No significant fires to report.
Fire Inspections:
New construction - Walgreen's Pharmacy is close to completion. We conducted fire tests on Friday,
February 3rd and they have received a temporary Certificate of Occupancy. There is nothing new to
report on the water treatment plant. There is also work being done on a few small remodeling
proj ects.

We have begun inspecting existing businesses on Quattro Drive and West 77th Street. We will also
be inspecting General Mills, EmersonIRosemount, Banta, and the CSM buildings on Lake Drive East.
All hotels and apartment buildings are being re-inspected.
Fire Prevention:
A fire prevention article was done for the February 9th Chanhassen Villager Newspaper. The fire
department also invited Dave Jansen from the Villager to come to our house bum drills in February
on Audubon Road to take pictures and do a nice PR article on the fire department.
