Re: Rossavik Addition
Mr. Generous:
The SWCD has taken the opportunity to review the Rossavik Addition plan. The plan reviewed
is dated with a revision on January 4,2006 with a City stamp of January 06,2006. Please review
and consider the following comments and suggestions regarding erosion and sediment controls,
and NPDES compliance.
Erosion Control
1. Temporary mulch (type 1 at a rate of2 tons per acre) and seed is needed within 14 days
of final grade or if areas are not actively worked within a 14 day period.
Sediment Control
1. Chanhassen City specification type 1 silt fence is needed for the perimeter control.
2. Street scraping and sweeping is needed within 24 hours of soil tracking onto adjacent
paved surfaces.
3. Storm water catch basin sediment controls are needed according to City specifications
and must be regularly maintained.
4. Hay bale ditch checks should be taken off the plan and not used as an acceptable
sediment control.
5. Flared end section ofthe culvert located between lot 1 and lot 2 must be protected within
24 hours of installation until permanent vegetation is established. Potential controls
include a rock weeper or 3 fiber rolls stacked in a pyramid formation and stacked to the
soil around the FES. The fiber rolls could be wrapped in a straw erosion control blanket
to increase the effectiveness of the control.
SWPPP
- A NPDES permit will be required for the development and be applied for and received from the
MPCA by the Owner and operator of the site.
- A completed SWPPP meeting NPDES conditions is needed for the development prior to
application of the NPDES permit.
