2006 Easter Egg Candy Hunt EvaluatIOn
The Chanhassen Parks and Recreation Department's Easter Egg Candy Hunt was
held on Saturday, April 15 at the Chanhassen RecreatIOn Center. There were 283
kids regIstered for this event. 177 pre-regIstered and 106 day of registrations.
ThIS IS down from last year's number of roughly 400 kIds (last year's numbers are
estImated smce an exact count was not taken).
The "Splatter Sisters" provIded the entertamment for this year's event. Once
again, they were a great attractIOn and an added feature to the festIvItIes. We will
be lookmg for another group to provIde next years entertamment. All though the
"Splatter Sisters" provIde a great show, we have used them for the past few years
and want to add a little variety.
V olunteers from the Chaska High School Key Club were a tremendous asset WIth
setup, cleanup, candy distnbution, and wearing the bunny costumes. Volunteers
provide such a great serVIce at these types of events. They will be asked to help
agam next year.
I recommend that the Easter Egg Candy Hunt continue to be held at the
Chanhassen Recreation Center. It offers great flexibility for all weather
condItIOns. The candy hunt was held m the soccer field north of the RecreatIOn
Center.
In keeping WIth our goal of providing high quality programs throughout, new
color posters were made by the city hall front office staff for all aspects of the
event. i.e. coloring contest categories, sponsorship thank you posters, registratIOn
table sIgns, and directional signs.
As a bonus to parents they were able to enter a drawmg to win free Timberwolves
tIckets that were acquired by the city by partIcIpatmg m a separate event.
The City of Chanhassen · A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks A great place to live, work, and play,
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR 2007

);- Continue handmg out candy bags to kids as they leave the regIstratIOn

}.> Add a 3 year old and under category to the colonng contest.
