Park & Trail Report
This spring the Park Maintenance crew was very busy with all the basic start ups
of the park shelters, drinking fountains, dock installations, piers, buoys, irrigation
and the layout and stripping of 10 soccer fields and 25 ball fields.
The majority of the seasonal help started in mid May with the last two starting
June lih. This crew is taking care of mowing all parks, weed whipping, ball field
maintenance, shelter cleaning and garbage pick up.
We also did a lot of tree and flower plantmg. At the Rec Center we replanted 48
oak trees that were dying and at Lake Ann Park 41 flowering crab trees we
planted. The downtown crew planted 15 trees and 68 flats of flowers.
In the playground replacement program we have completed North Lotus and
Chanhassen Hills. At Lake Susan both play structures are completed but only the
large structure has had the sod laid and ready for use. The smaller structure is not
open because of the construction work that needs to be completed around it.
Carver Beach, Minnewashta Heights, Rice Marsh and Curry Farms are completed
except for the laying of the sod around the structures.
The work on Curry Farms continues with grading and leveling of the dirt that was
hauled in this past winter. We have found a resource for fill to build up the trail
that comes in off Teton Lane. This should take place sometime in the beginning
of July.
The mowing of the trails got off to a late start due to the tractor mower that we
use from the street department has a bad motor and can't be used. We did buy a
mower to fit one of the park tractors and the first mowing was completed June
16th.
Pnce quotes were received for the resurfacing of the tennis courts at South Lotus,
Meadow Green and Lake Susan along with the basketball court at Lake Susan.
This work should take place the beginning of July.
The City 01 Chanhassen · A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks A great place to live, work, and play,

We had the STS (Sentence to Serve) people working with us the spring. We had
6 people for 3 days blowing sand and cleaning sidewalks in the downtown area.
Another day was used at South Lotus tennis court to cut and remove a lot of the
vines growing on the inside of the fence.
We also had the opportunity to use 29 seniors from the Minnetonka High School
Senior Service Day Project for 1 day. They worked at the Rec Center and Bluff
Creek Elementary wood chipping all the trees, flower beds and bush beds. The
project required 13 dump truck loads of wood chips.
