Senior Center Activities Update
All the summer programs and activities ended on a successful note. Daytrips had
an over whelming response often with numerous people on the waiting list. The
highlight ofthe summer programs where the Ladies Tea Luncheon, the Dinner
and Concert in the Park, the Centennial Showboat Cruise and the Digital Camera
class. Two Line dancing classes have been started which are held at the
Chanhassen Recreation Center. The Woodcarving group continues to thrive with
many participants now coming 2 days a week opposed to just one.
I continue to look for opportunities to work and partner with community
businesses and organizations. C & J Coffee and Maggie Moo's sponsored the
entertainment for the Ladies Luncheon and catered this event for our 65
participants. Lakewinds Foods gave a presentation at the Senior Center and then
offered a store tour to the Women Club participants.
Defensive Driving classes are offered on a monthly basis with average
participation of20+. These are often people who don't visit the Senior Center on
a regular basis, but I usually hear from a few after the class about what a beautiful
space we have and the great variety of programming. Thus, picking up some
participants to our activities and programs.
The Friends of the Library invited the Senior Center to hold a Bake and Greeting
Card Sale at the Barkas Parade. The sale was a moderate success but the exposure
to our center was great.
All in all, it was a busy but good summer. Plans are well under way for late fall
and winter activities. You are always welcome to stop in and partake or observe
any of our activities.
The City 01 Chanhassen . A growing community with clean lakes, quality schools, a charming downtown, thriving businesses, winding trails, and beautiful parks. A great place to live, work, and play.
