Last year, the Park and Recreation Commission gathered citizen input from a number of neighborhood parks and decided to support flooding three test rinks. These three rinks were located at Chanhassen Hills Park, Rice Marsh Lake Park, and Pheasant Hills Park. The Park and Recreation Commission had staff develop an analysis model to monitor attendance. This model was implemented; however, with the warm weather, there was minimal use on the three test rinks. Park maintenance staff spends a significant amount of time making sure the rinks are maintained to the highest possible qualIty. With the warm weather last winter, the test rinks received little use, even when the ice was suitable. Staff believes that focusing on the main rinks where warming houses are located is a better use of park maintenance staff time. RECOMMENDATION It is staff's recommendation that the Park and Recreation Commission recommend to the City Council to approve the following ice skating rink locations for the 2006/07 season. This schedule will eliminate the three test nnks from last year's schedule. Chanhassen Rec.
