Re:
Site Lighting & Storage Enclosure
Dear Patrick and Karen Minger:
On January 5, 2007, I visited your office site at 2471 Galpin Court in the
Chanhassen West Business Park. As I told Karen in our phone conversation after
returning to City Hall, I discovered two problems: site lighting and storage
enclosure roofing.
In reviewing the area lighting on the west side of the property, I noticed that the
lighting is angled. City Code, section 20-913 (c) (1), requires that area lighting be
shielded and have a cutoff angle of 90 degrees. The lighting on the poles is
angled above 90 degrees. Please have your lighting contractor correct the area
lighting to comply with the 90 degree cutoff angle. As it is, the lighting shines off
site and is a nuisance pursuant to City ordinance section 13-2 (c) (24) of the
Chanhassen City Code.
Additionally, while on the site, I noticed that your tenant, Partek, was installing
aluminum supports for the installation of roofing over the. storage area. As you
may recall, the Chanhassen City Council specifically deniedthe use ofafabric
storage building for the storage area. You will need to submit a planfor the
construction of any storage enclosure for this area for City review and approval
prior to installation. A building permit will be required. I am having the building
official issue a stop work order for this construction.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact me at
(952) 227-1131 or bgenerous@ci.chanhassen.mn.us.
