1976-09-09 minutes Bicentennial Commission September 9, 1976 Chanhassen City Hall The regular meeting of the Bicentennial Commission was called to order by Chairman Walter Hobbs on September 9, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. The following members were present: Rich Lyman, Martin Jones, Walter Hobbs, Lyle Riclefs, Dick Dutcher and Myrna Kurvers. Fr. Armand Lubanski was absent. MINUTES: A motion was made by Martin Jones and seconded by Lyle Ricklefs to approve the June 24, 1976 minutes. Notion carried. VILLAGE HALL: A discussion was held on the green area that will surround the Village Hall Restoration. Several alternatives were discussed. Dick Dutcher moved that the Bicentennial Commission recommend to the city council that the green area retained by the city surrounding the Village Hall be as follows: A line 30 feet from the rear of the building extending from the north property line to the southern most property line with the existing south, east, and north lines completing the area around the Village Hall. It was further moved that the Bicentennial Commission recommend that no parking spaces be placed next to the Western boundary. This area could be used as a traffic lane. It was also suggested that the curb cut be located abutting the southern property line. The motion was seconded by Martin Jones. Notion carried unanimously. The Bicentennial Commission would like to know what has happened to the bell from the Old Village Hall. FUTURE BICENTENNIAL COMMISSION: Discussion was held on future projects for the mission. It was decide-3 that no additional projects will be undertaken. The commission will finish the restoration and have a dedication of the Old Village Hall. The commission will also attempt to have the city make a strong effort to continue the city picnic. Dick Dutcher will talk to the Park Commission about this project. The folder on the picnic in the park is presently at city hall. When these projects are completed the commission will go out of existence. OLD BUSINESS: General discussion on past events and projects. NEW BUSINESS: Discussion was held on what should be done to preserve the records of the Bicentennial year and commission. Nothing definite was decided. The commission would like the administrator's view on this matter. A motion was made by Myrna Kurvers and seconded by Richard Lyman to adjourn the meeting.
